Well Hello There

Hi All!

            Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog. As the name suggests this blog is dedicated to myself (Rahslynn) and is designed to follow my progress through my Hula Hooping Journey. Hula Hooping is something I am very new to and also very passionate about. I hope that hooping will become a major part of my life and when it seems like it's all I do, I want to be able to look back to these days and remember just how much effort I put into my passion.

             I also wanted to make this blog for another reason, one that I feel is very important. To inspire others. You may have seen hula hoopers at your local music festival, a rave, on TV, or at the park wandering about enjoying the nice weather. You may have thought "What a bunch of nutcases." If that's the case, this blog is not for you. But maybe you thought to yourself, "I wish I could do that.." Maybe you thought "I can't because I'm too...." Yeah, this blog is for you.

             I'll explain my decision to begin my hoop journey in another post, but I will say that in my head it seemed a lot easier than it really is. It wasn't until I bought my first hoop that the thoughts came flooding in.

"I'm too fat."
"I'm not flexible enough." 
"I'm too clumsy."
"My clothes aren't right."
"It's too cold outside." 
"This is a dangerous neighborhood."
"I don't have enough room to practice."
"I don't want to go alone."
"I feel awkward around others." 
"I suck."
"Why do I do this to myself?"
"WHY DO I KEEP HITTING THINGS!?"
"Fuck couches."
"Fuck ceilings."
"I have bruises."
"Stupid hoop why won't you just stay spinning around me!!!!"

             I could write you a book of excuses if you run out or can't seem to find a new one to use. However, that's all they are, excuses. Sometimes there just isn't anything you can do about it. Sometimes you get sick, you pull a muscle, your hoop breaks, SHIT HAPPENS. But the point is to never give up. 

            As for the number one excuse of mine, "I'm too fat." it's a load of crap. Whatever body type you are, 

YOU CAN DO IT.

            If you found this blog because you're interested in hooping, continue, I will provide links to all of the things that inspired me in the beginning, that inspires me now, and that will inspire me in the future. I hope that in addition to documenting my experience, I can at the very very least, help others during theirs as well.
